Softball Drops NCAA Regional Tournament Game to Coe (Iowa)

GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Champion Baldwin Wallace University softball team fell to Coe (Iowa) College in NCAA Division III Regional Tournament game hosted by DePauw University by a final score of 4-2 on the DePauw Softball Field.

Coe (32-9), who is the top seed, will play the winner of game two between third-seed St. Mary's (Minn.) University and second-seed DePauw in a winner's bracket game on Friday, May 17 at 11 a.m. BW (25-16), who is the fourth seed, will play the loser of game two in an elimination game on Friday at 1:30 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets scored two runs on five hits as they plated one in the second and one in the sixth off the solo blast and second career homer by sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference shortstop Lucia Wolford (McDonald).  The Kohawks scored four runs on three hits as they pushed all four runs across the plate in the fifth.

At the Plate

  • Freshman third baseman Mia Maddamma (North Royalton) went 2-for-3
  • Wolford went 1-for-2 with a homerun, two runs scored run batted-in (RBI) and a walk
  • Sophomore All-OAC first baseman Gillian Ryser (Hubbard) went 1-for-2
  • Sophomore left fielder Macaira Fox (Massillon/Tuslaw) went 1-for-3 with an RBI

  • Junior All-OAC right hander Marisa Hall (Paris/East Canton) took the loss as she allowed four runs (one earned) on three hits with five strikeouts and two walks
