Softball Drops Rescheduled OAC Doubleheader with Ohio Northern

ADA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team dropped a rescheduled Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader on the ONU Softball Field.

Ohio Northern (16-8, 12-2 OAC) won the opener by a final score of 2-0 and took the night cap by a final score of 8-15.

In game one, BW (12-20, 7-9 OAC) was held scoreless for the fourth time this season on two hits. The Polar Bears scored two runs on seven hits as the pushed one run across the plate in the fifth and sixth innings. 

At the Plate

  • Sophomore All-OAC shortstop Emily Mau (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) was 1-for-3 with a double
  • Sophomore third baseman Julia Gersey (Solon) was 1-for-2

In the Circle

  • Junior right hander Nikki Camarati (Brunswick/Holy Name) took the loss as she allowed two runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and one walk. 

In game two, the Yellow Jackets scored five runs on nine hits as it plated one run in the first and sixth innings and three in the seventh. Ohio Northern scored eight runs on 12 hits as it pushed three runs across the plate in the third and fifth innings and two in the sixth.

At the Plate

  • Mau was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, walk and a stolen base
  • Junior Academic All-OAC second baseman Alicia Saxton (Boardman) was 2-for-3 with two runs batted-in (RBIs)
  • Sophomore All-OAC shortstop Bridie Bricker (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) was 2-for-4 with a double
  • Gersey, senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC right fielder Ashley Matousek (Sagamore Hills/Akron Archbishop Hoban) and sophomore designated player Ana LaGuardia (Medina) each had a base knock.
  • LaGuardia had her first collegiate hit and a run scored
  • Gersey had an RBI

In the Circle

  • Junior righty Hannah Welling (Ravenna) took the loss as she allowed eight runs on 12 hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

BW is back in action on Tuesday, April 26 for its final home regular season games as it hosts a non-conference doubleheader against Hiram College on the BW Softball Field at the Roehm Athletic Complex at 3:30 p.m.
