Men's Outdoor Track and Field Gets First Place at 54th Sparky Adams Invitational; Competes at Jesse Owens Classic

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team competed at its first home meet of the outdoor season in the 54th Sparky Adams Invitational.

BW placed first out of 12 participating teams with 167 points.

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:

  • Freshman Samuel Skor (Columbia Station / Columbia) finished third in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 16.60.
  • Sophomore Kaeden Faggs (Marion / Harding) placed third in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.02.
  • Junior Carter Almady (Brunswick) finished fourth in the 1500-meter run in a time of 4:07.79.

Field events highlights:

  • Junior Thomas Hickman (Oxford / Talawanda) won the hammer throw and javelin throw, with a distance of 49.58 in the hammer and 45.16 in the javelin. Hickman also finished second in the discus throw with a mark of 44.18 meters.
  • Junior All-American high jumper Christian Pfeiffer (Amherst) won the high jump with a mark of 2.06 meters.
  • Junior Mason Kiesel (New London / South Central) won the shot put with a distance of 14.79 meters.
  • Freshman Ethan Long (Springboro) placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 48.32 meters.
  • Freshman Connor Radojcsics (Mount Gilead / Northmor) finished second in the pole vault with a distance of 4.15 meters.
  • Freshman Kitar Olsen (Whitefish, Mont.) placed second in the javelin throw with a mark of 43.98 meters.
  • Junior Kaleu Tellas (Indianapolis, Ind. / International School of Indiana) finished third in the discus throw with a distance of 42.31 meters.
  • Faggs finished third in the long jump with a distance of 6.51 meters.

On the relay side:

  • In the 4x100 meter relay crew, Faggs, sophomore Rodney Washington Jr. (Warrensville Heights / Benedictine), freshman Cam Gay (Aurora, Colo. / Eaglecrest), and freshman Gavin Franks (Cortland / Lakeview) placed first in a time of 43.38.

Select members of the men's outdoor track and field team competed at the Jesse Owens Classic, hosted by NCAA Division I Ohio State University. The meet was unscored.

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:

  • Faggs finished 18th in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.10.
  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference distance runner Gehrig Stanley (Twinsburg / Benedictine) placed 21st in the 1500-meter run in a time of 3:58.22.
  • Sophomore All-OAC Sam Sikorski (Columbia Station / Columbia) finished 26th in the 1500-meter run in a time of 4:00.01. 

Field events highlights:

  • Junior Joe Barnes (West Plains, Mo.) placed 10th in the javelin throw with a mark of 45.24 meters.
  • Tellas finished 20th in the shot put with a distance of 14.73 meters.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Thursday, April 25 as they compete in the Walsh Tune-Up.
