Hickman, Tucker, and Others Earn All-OAC Honors; Men's Outdoor Track and Field Stands in Third Place After Day One of OAC Championships

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team stands in third place after the first day of the two-day Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Heidelberg University.

BW is third of nine teams with 33 points. University of Mount Union and Otterbein University are tied at first place with 55 points, respectively.

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included: 

  • In the 400-meter dash prelims, freshman All-OAC sprinter Wesley Noeth (Powell / Olentangy Liberty) finished ninth in a time of 48.57.
  • Junior Carter Almady (Brunswick) placed 11th in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 32:03.55.
  • Freshman Nick Marcovitch (San Antonio, Texas / Claudia Taylor Johnson) finished 11th in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:05.28.

Field events highlighted:

  • Junior All-OAC thrower Thomas Hickman (Oxford / Talawanda) earned his second career All-OAC outdoor honors after winning the discus throw with a mark of 47.97 meters.
  • Sophomore Kaeden Faggs (Marion / Harding) finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.97 meters.
  • Junior Joe Barnes (West Plains, Mo.) placed fourth in the javelin throw with a mark of 50.18 meters.
  • Junior Kaleu Tellas (Indianapolis, Ind. / International School of Indiana) finished fourth in the discus throw with a distance of 42.46 meters.

On the relay side:

  • In the 4x800 relay squad, freshman Dillon Hach (Medina), sophomore Sam Sikorski (Columbia Station / Columbia), senior Gehrig Stanley (Twinsburg / Benedictine) and senior Jackson Tucker (Akron / Lake Center Christian School) earned outdoor All-OAC honors after finishing third in a time of 7:41.75.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, May 3 for the second and final day of the OAC Outdoor Championships. Friday's action is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. inside of Hoernemann Stadium.
