Men's Swimming and Diving Claim Victories in Hosted Fall Duals

BEREA, Ohio -  The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team claims two victories in the two-day hosted BW Fall Duals in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center. 

BW (3-0) won 13 out of 15 events, as it defeated Hiram College by a final score of 258-73 and Bluffton University, 283-14. 

Day One:
The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included: 

  • Sophomore Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Tate) won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:04.38 and the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:07.67
  • Freshman Nolan Szuch (Springboro) won the 100-meter backstroke in a time of 57.82 seconds
  • Sophomore Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.) finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 49.99 seconds
  • Sophomore Jason Tafoya (El Paso, Texas) won the 200-meter individual medley in a time of 2:08.64
  • Sophomore Gannon Mellett (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Moon Area) won the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:04.55

BW relays were highlighted by:

  • In the 200-yard medley relay squad of Szuch, senior Alec McNeill (Avon Lake), McQueary, and junior Mason Kooyman (Concord Township / Chardon) won in a time of 1:42.50
  • In the 400-yard freestlye relay team of Kooyman, Mellett, Kingsley and senior Austin Olsavsky (Medina) won in a time of 3:19.37

Day Two:
The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included: 

  • Kooyman wins the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.60
  • Olsavsky won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:51.38
  • McQueary wins the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 53.78
  • Kingsley won the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:34.77 and 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:00.72
  • Szuch won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:04.85
  • McNeil placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:30.89

BW relays were highlighted by:

  • In the 200-yard medley relay squad of Tafoya, McNeil, McQueary, and Olsavsky won in a time of 3:48.74
  • In the 200-yard freestyle team of Kooyman, Olsavsky, Kingsley, and Mellett won in a time of 1:31.07

 The Yellow Jackets return to the pool on Saturday, October 29 has it travels to New York for an non-conferene meet against Buffalo State and Fredonia State in the Kissinger Pool
