WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team has been voted to finish eighth by the Ohio Athletic Conference coaches, as announced in the annual OAC Preseaon Poll.
BW, who was selected to finish eighth in last year's poll and finished eighth in the league, was voted eighth with 28 points. John Carroll University, who was the runner-up last season, was voted to finish first with 77 points and six first-place votes. Defending OAC champion Ohio Northern University was selected second with 75 points and four first-place votes. Making it to the third spot was Otterbein University with 65 points. Placing fourth is Wilmington College with 51 points. Rounding out the top five is Mount Union University with 50 points.
The Yellow Jackets and veteran head coach Reid Ayers return 19 letterwinners and four Academic All-OAC selections from last year's team that finished 11-6-2 with a 2-6-1 mark in the OAC.
BW opens its 2023 season on Friday, Sept. 1, traveling to Erie, Pa. to face North Central (Ill.) College in the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament. The home opener is on Sept. 9 when the Yellow Jackets host Bluffton University. BW opens up OAC play when it travels to Marietta College on Sept. 30.
