BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team dropped their Ohio Athletic Conference home opener to Marietta College by a final score of 2-1 on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium.
BW Leaders (9-1-1, 0-1 OAC)
- Freshman midfielder Owen Reyes (North Olmsted) scored the lone goal for the Yellow Jackets. It was his third goal of the season.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Zoltan Nagy (Lakewood/St. Edward), the OAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the week, led with four saves.
Marietta Leaders (3-5-3, 1-0 OAC)
- Senior forward Jovonni Auddino scored his second goal of the season.
- Senior midfielder Elliot Britton scored his third goal of the season.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Joey Backhaus led with five saves.
First Half (1-0, Marietta)
- Auddino scored in the 28th minute off an assist from senior midfielder Caden Ferguson.
- BW led the half with eight shots compared to the Marietta four.
- The Yellow Jackets led with two corner kick opportunities.
- Both goalkeepers recorded two saves.
Second Half (2-1, Marietta)
- Reyes scored the equalizer off a penalty kick in the 55th minute.
- Britton put the Pioneers on top with an unassisted goal in the 79th minute.
- Marietta led the half with 11 shots.
- Both teams had two corner kick opportunities.
- Marietta led the half with three saves. BW recorded two saves.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, October 5 when the team travels to Alliance for an OAC matchup against the University of Mount Union at 7:00 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.
