Men’s Soccer Falls to The College of Wooster in Season Opener

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team dropped the season opener to The College of Wooster inside George Finnie Stadium on Tressel Field by a final score of 3-0. 

BW (0-1) put the pressure on Wooster (1-0) as they outshot them by a mark of 10-8 and put five shots on goal. 

The first half featured a battle in the midfield as both sides tried to get early offensive action. The Fighting Scots were able to breakthrough 14:25 into the first half when senior forward Max Hill scored off a throw in. The Yellow Jackets defense continually held off some tough offensive pushes by Wooster throughout the first half. But the Fighting Scots got a second goal off a header by senior defender Dani Halbing. 

The second half featured more battling in the midfielder. Wooster continued to make offensive pushes and they were able to find one more goal by freshman midfielder Max Wiley 68:50 into the game. The rest of the game featured an aggressive BW offense as they outshot Wooster by a mark of 3-1.

In the net for the Yellow Jackets, was junior Academic All-OAC goalkeeper Matt Weaver (Ontario) who made three saves on the six shots he faced.

BW is back in action on Saturday, September 4 at 7:30 pm as they travel to the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament at Penn St. Behrend in Erie, Pa.
