Three Men’s Soccer Players Named All-OAC

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's soccer team placed three players on the 2011 All-Ohio Athletic Conference team, including two on the first-team. Senior defender Andy Thompson (Huron) and senior forward Carlin Vandendriessche (Medina) were selected to the first-team while junior midfielder Pat Brennan (Akron/ Walsh Jesuit) was tabbed as second-team.

The Yellow Jackets had a record setting season as the team set the school record for wins in a season with 16  (16-5) and will be making their first trip to the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer National Tournament.   B-W will take on SUNY-Oneonta in the first round this Saturday, November 12 in Oneonta, New York at 1:30 p.m.   With a victory, the Yellow Jackets will face the winner of Hobart (N.Y.) and Penn State-Behrend on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Thompson is earning his second straight second-team All-OAC award after posting one goal and a career-high tying six assist for the second consecutive season.  He is tied with Vandendriessche atop the career games played list with 83 games.   Thompson, a four-year letter winner and three-year starter, has taken 76 shots, including 32 on-goal, scored six goals, including three game-winners and added 16 assists for 28 career points.

Vandendriessche had a record setting season and is earning All-OAC accolades for the fourth straight season, including his second first-team All-OAC honor. He was selected first-team as a sophomore in 2009.  This season, Vandendriessche led the team and the OAC in goals with 16 and points with 37 and had a team-best seven game-winning goals.  He is the all-time Yellow Jacket leader in career goals scored (46), career points (102), goals in a season (16) and points in a season (37).  

Brennan had his best offensive season and is earning his scored All-OAC honor, including his second straight on the second-team.  This season, he tallied seven goals and added a career-high seven assists to rank third on the team with a career-best 21 points. In addition, Brennan was selected to the Capital One Academic All-District IV first-team for the second consecutive season and is currently a candidate for Capital One Academic All-America accolades.  He has appeared in 60 career matches, taken 126 shots, including 59 on-goal, scored 19 goals and added 16 assists for 54 career points.  In addition, Brennan was B-W's "Rookie of the Year" in 2009 and has twice earned OAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week accolades.
