Men's Soccer Team Improves to 3-0 with Win at Adrian (Mich.)

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's soccer team improved to 3-0 for the young season following a 2-1 victory at Adrian College (1-2) this evening (Wednesday, September 3, 2008) in Adrian, Mich.

The Jackets wasted little time getting on the board as senior midfielder Andy Synk (Strongsville) scored on a free kick just four minutes and 36 seconds into the contest. BW found the back of the net again in the 42nd minute as Synk hooked up with junior defender Cory Weidner (Rocky River) for his first goal of 2008.

Adrian made things interesting following an Eric Drake goal in the 80th minute, but the Jackets were able to hold the Bulldogs off to secure their third consecutive 2-1 victory. Overall, Baldwin-Wallace outshot the Bulldogs 14-11 and held a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.

Aided by the Yellow Jacket defense, sophomore goal keeper Zachary Ryan (Casstown/Troy) needed only four saves to pick up his second win of the year.

B-W will have the weekend off from competition before returning to action on Wednesday, September 10 at Oberlin College. The game, scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m., will follow the 4:30 match-up between the hosts and the B-W women.
