SUNBURY, OHIO -- Junior Augie Ward (Medina/ Walsh Jesuit) shot a team-best 79 in the second round and tallied 161 strokes to lead the Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team today (Tuesday, April 16, 2013) at the two-day and 54-hole Ohio Athletic Conference Spring Invitational Tournament at the Rattlesnake Ridge Golf Club in Sunbury, Ohio. BW stood in seventh place among eight teams before inclement weather suspended play during the third round.
After a first-round total of 339 yesterday, the Yellow Jackets carded a 324 in the second round on the par-72 and 7,012-yard Rattlesnake Ridge layout.
In addition to Ward, who currently stands in a tie for 21st place individually, sophomore Adam Sanders (Fairview Park) shot an 82 in the second round and stands in a tie for 28th with 164 strokes. Sophomore Cody Lyon (Wadsworth/ Medina Highland) sits in 35th place with 168 strokes after carding a second-round score of 83. Junior Chris Nader (Westlake) shot an 80 and is in a tie for 36th place with 170 strokes. Sophomore Andy Ingram (Vermilion) carded a 90 and stands tied for 47th with 185 strokes.
Freshman Connor Duplin (North Canton/ Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas), competing individually, fired an 87 in the second round for a 177-stroke total, and is tied for 42nd place.
BW returns to action Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21, when it travels to Wooster, Ohio to compete in the season-ending The College of Wooster Spring Invitational Tournament at the Wooster Country Club.
