Men’s Golfers Finish Eighth at OAC Fall Invitational

FINDLAY, OHIO --  The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team finished eighth of 12 teams and fifth of eight Ohio Athletic Conference teams today at the OAC Invitational at the Red Hawk Run Golf Course.  
 
The Yellow Jackets totaled 332 strokes on the second day for a two-round total of 656 on the par-72 and 6,724-yard Red Hawk Run G.C. layout.  Madonna (Mich.) University won the team title by firing a two day total of 605.  John Carroll was second with 608 and the Universoty of Northwestern finished third with 618.

The Yellow Jacket men were led by senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference player Stephen Spalding (Stow/ Walsh Jesuit) who fired a two-day total of 155, including a second round 78.   Junior No. 2 player Augie Ward (Medina/ Walsh Jesuit) was second with a two day total of 162 with a team-low 76 in the first round.  Following Spalding and Ward, junior No. 5 player Chris Nader (Westlake) with 166, sophomore No. 3 player Cody Lyon (Wadsworth/ Medina Highland) with a 173 and sophomore No. 4 player Andy Ingram (Vermilion) with a 178. In collegiate golf, each team has five starters with the top four scores counting toward the team score.

BW will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 22 when it travels to Defiance to play in the Defiance College Fall Invitational at the Eaglerock Golf Club.
