Men’s Golfers Stand Seventh After First Day of OAC Invite

FINDLAY, OHIO--   The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team stands seventh of 12 teams and fourth of eight Ohio Athletic Conference schools today at the annual OAC Invitational Tournament at the Red Hawk Run Golf Course.  The second round is tomorrow.

The Yellow Jackets totaled 324 strokes on the par-72 and 6,724-yard Red Hawk Run G.C. layout. Madonna (Mich.) Universirty leads the tournament with a 302,  John Carroll University is second with 307 and the University of Northwestern is third at 311. 

The Yellow Jacket men were led by junior No.2 player Augie Ward (Medina/ Walsh Jesuit) with a 76, senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference player Stephen Spalding (Stow/ Walsh Jesuit) carded a 77, junior No.5 player Chris Nader (Westlake) with an 83, sophomore No.3 player Cody Lyon (Wadsworth/ Medina Highland) with an 88 and sophomore No.4 player Andy Ingram (Vermilion) with an 89. In collegiate golf, each team has five starters with the top four scores counting toward the team score.

Following tomorrow's second round, the Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 22 when they travel to Defiance to play at the Defiance College Fall Classic.
