Men's Golfers Stand Sixth After First Day of Mt. Union Fall Tourney

ALLIANCE, OHIO--   The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team stands sixth after the first day at the annual University of Mount Union Fall Invitational Tournament at the Tannenhauf Golf Course in Alliance. The second round is played tomorrow. This is the third of four fall events for the Yellow Jacket men.  

BW carded a first round score of 319 strokes on the par -72 and 6694 -yard Tannenhauf G.C. layout to stand in sixth place.  Ohio Northern University leads after the first round with 286 strokes.

The Yellow Jacket men were led by Junior Augie Ward (Medina/ Walsh Jesuit) who carded a 76 on day one. Following Ward,  senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference player Stephen Spalding (Stow/ Walsh Jesuit) who fired an 80, sophomore Andy Ingram (Vermilion) with a 81, Cody Lyon (Wadsworth/ Medina Highland) with a 82, and Chris Nader (Westlake) rounded it off for BW with an 83.

In addidition and playing as individuals, freshman Dillon Haynes (Fairborn) fired a day one score of 80 and freshman Connor Duplin (North Canton / St. Thomas Aquinas) shot a 91.

The Yellow Jackets end the non-traditional fall portion of their schedule next weekend, Saturday and Sunday, October 6-7 when they travel to Springfield to compete at the Wittenberg University Rosecrans-Maurer Invitational Tournament at the Windy Knoll Golf Course.
