PATASKALA, OHIO-- Baldwin Wallace University junior Ricky Jaskolski (North Royalton/ Parma Padua Fransiscan) shot rounds of 84, 74 and 74 for a 54-hole total of 232 strokes to earn medalist honors as the Yellow Jacket men's golf team finished fifth of nine teams at the 2011 Ohio Athletic Conference Spring Invitational Tournament at the Cumberland Trail Golf Club in Pataskala, Ohio. The first 27 holes were played on Sunday, April 17 and the second 27 on Monday, April 18.
The Yellow Jackets shot rounds of 359, 313 and 311 for a 54-hole total of 983 strokes and were just four shots shy of third place. Ohio Northern University won the event with 953 strokes. The first round was a par-72 and 7,088 yards. The second was played at par-72 and 6,886 yards. The third round was played at par-72 and 6,805 yards. Jaskolski was the medalist and was three shots better than ONU's Colin Burns and Otterbein University's Brock Neighbors who both carded 54-hole totals of 235 strokes. There were 53 total golfers.
In addition to Jaskolski, sophomore Stephen Spalding (Stow/ Walsh Jesuit) carded rounds of 89, 76 and 77 for a 54-hole total of 242 strokes to tie for 11th individually. Freshman Augie Ward (Medina/ Walsh Jesuit) shot rounds of 92, 83 and 77 for a 252 total to place in a tie for 29th. Senior Brian Routhieaux (Gibsonia, Pa./ Mars Area) had rounds of 97, 80 and 83 for a 260 total to place in a tie for 41st. Junior Matt Warren (Copley) carded rounds of 94, 91 and 83 for a total of 268 strokes to place 50th.
Playing as an individual, freshman Chris Nader (Westlake) had rounds of 93, 93 and 81 for a 267 total to place 49th.
BW will next play on April 30 and May 1 at the 2011 OAC Championship Tournament at the Rivergreens Golf Club in West Layayette, Ohio. Tenatively, BW may schedule a tri-match this coming Friday, April 22 at Rivergreens G.C. More information will follow later in the week on the BW web site.
