BEREA, OHIO: The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team stands fifth of nine teams after 18 holes Saturday, April 17) of the 2010 Ohio Athletic Conference Spring Invitational at the River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ohio. The second and final day of the 54-hole tournament tees-off at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow morning and the players again will compete for 27 holes.

The Yellow Jackets battled windy conditions to shoot 315 strokes on the first 18 holes and then a 153 on the final nine holes of the afternoon.

Senior two-time All-OAC player Nick Bryan (Zanesville/ Rosecrans) led the Yellow Jackets on the first day with 116 strokes for 27 holes, including a 78 on the first 18 holes to tie junior Matt Weiss (Mentor) for low team honors. Weiss finished with a 117 total and was followed by senior All-OAC player Mike Falk (Strongsville) and freshman Stephen Spalding (Stow/ Walsh Jesuit) with 118 totals, respectively. Falk shot 81-37 and Spalding 79-39. Sophomore Ricky Jaskolski (North Royalton/ Parma Padua Franciscan) carded a 27-hole total of 121 strokes (81-40).

Following tomorrow's round, BW is idle until Saturday and Sunday, April 23-24 when it participates at The College of Wooster Nye Intercollegiate Tournament at the Wooster Country Club in Wooster, Ohio.   Tee times have yet to be announced. The final men's tournament of the season is a week later when BW returns to the New Concord area to compete at the 2010 OAC Championship Tournament at the Eagle Sticks Golf Club with Muskingum again as the host school.
