BW Men's Golf Team Stands Second After First Day of Mt. Union Tourney; Final Round on Monday

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team stands in second place after the first day of the annual Mount Union College Fall Invitational Tournament today (Saturday, September 26, 2009). The first round was played at the Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance. The second round will be played tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 27 at the Alliance Country Club with a shotgun start at 11:00 a.m.


The Yellow Jackets carded a first round total of 297 on the 6,694-yard, par-72 Tannenhauf G.C. layout and trail first place John Carroll University by six shots.

Individually for the Yellow Jacket players who counted toward the team score (five players comprise a team and the top four scores count toward the team total), senior two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference player Nick Bryan (Zanesville/ Rosecrans) led the way as he carded a 71, senior All-OAC player Mike Falk (Strongsville) had a 72, junior Matt Weiss (Mentor) had a 76 and sophomore Ricky Jaskolski (North Royalton/ Parma Fransiscan Padua) and freshman Stephen Spalding (Stow/ Walsh Jesuit) each had 78.

In addition and playing as individuals, junior Cory Swaisgood (Fremont/ St. Joseph Central Catholic) had a 77, sophomore Kyle Lewis (Riverside, Calif./ Riverside Poly) had 78, junior Brian Routhieaux (Gibsonia, Pa./ Mars Area) had 79, freshman Connor Cronkite (Fairview, Pa./ Erie Cathedral Prep) had 80 and sophomore Chris Juszczak (East Liverpool) carded an 83.
