BW Men's Golf Team Places Second at OAC Spring Invitational; Weiss Places Fourth Individually

BEREA, OHIO: The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team finished second of nine teams on the second and final day (Sunday, April 18) of the 2010 Ohio Athletic Conference Spring Invitational at the River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ohio. The Yellow Jackets improved three spots from the day one standings and finished at 917 strokes for the 54-hole tournament.

The Yellow Jackets finished with scores of 303 and 298, respectively, in rounds two and three. BW's round three score was one stroke off of the best total of the round.

John Carroll University won the team title at 912 strokes and was followed in the top five by BW (917), Heidelberg University (923), Otterbein College (925) and Ohio Northern University (947).

Junior Matt Weiss (Concord/Mentor) led BW for the tournament with a three-round total of 226 strokes on the par-72 and 6,684-yard layout. On day two, Weiss carded 18-hole scores of 74 and 74 to finish fourth individually in the 45-person field.

Senior two-time All-OAC player Nick Bryan (Zanesville/ Rosecrans) was second for BW at 229 strokes. On day two, Bryan shot 77 and 74.

Senior All-OAC player Mike Falk (Strongsville) and freshman Stephen Spalding (Stow/ Walsh Jesuit) were next for the Yellow Jackets with 54-hole totals of 231. On day two, Falk shot 76 and 74 and Spalding shot 76 and 76. Sophomore Ricky Jaskolski (North Royalton/ Parma Padua Franciscan) was fifth for BW at 241 total strokes including day two scores of 79 and 81.

BW is back in action on Saturday and Sunday, April 23-24, at The College of Wooster Nye Intercollegiate Tournament at the Wooster Country Club in Wooster, Ohio. The final men's tournament of the season is a week later when BW returns to the New Concord area to compete at the 2010 OAC Championship Tournament at the Eagle Sticks Golf Club with Muskingum again as the host school.
