BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team totaled a two-round 631 to place fourth of 11 teams competing at the two-day Ohio Athletic Conference Fall Invitational at Fox Meadow Country Club in Medina, Ohio on Sunday and Monday, September 20-21. The Yellow Jackets were only one stroke away from third place and five strokes out of the runner-up spot.
Otterbein College won the team title with a 618. Mount Union (626) was second, John Carroll University (630) was third and BW (631) and Ohio Northern (637) rounded out the top five. Mount Union's Scott Miller shot 72+75=147 (+3) to earn medalist honors.
For the Yellow Jackets, junior Matt Weiss (Concord/ Mentor) tied for third at 149 (75+74) and senior Nick Bryan (Zanesville/ Rosecrans) tied for sixth at 153 (79+74).
Reigning senior OAC Player of the Week Mike Falk (Strongsville) totaled 161 (85+76) and sophomore Ricky Jaskolski (North Royalton/ Parma Padua Franciscan) rounded out the Jacket scoring with a 168 (84+84). Junior Brian Routhieaux (Gibsonia, Pa./ Mars Area) was fifth for BW with a 171 (86+85).
Competing as individuals, freshman Stephen Spalding (Stow/ Walsh Jesuit) tied for eighth overall with a 154 (76+78), senior Cory Swaisgood (Fremont/ St. Joseph's Central Catholic) shot 159 (78+81), sophomore Chris Juszczak (East Liverpool) shot 163 (80+83), sophomore Kyle Lewis (Riverside, Calif./ Riverside Poly) shot 164 (83+81) and freshman Connor Cronkhite (Fairview, Pa./ Erie Cathedral Prep).
The Yellow Jackets are back in action next Sunday and Monday, Sept. 27-28 at the Mount Union Invitational in Alliance, Ohio. Round one will be played at Tannenhauf Golf Club and round two will be played at Alliance Country Club.
