Baldwin Wallace University Men's Golf Team Finishes Fifth at OAC Tourney

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team finished fifth of nine teams at the two-day and 36-hole 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament today (Friday, April 30) at the New Albany Country Club in New Albany, Ohio. 

 
The Yellow Jackets carded a first day score of 350 strokes and had 317 strokes on the final day to total 667 overall. Otterbein College won the team total with 639 strokes and Heidelberg College�s Zack Koinis was the medalist as he fired rounds of 74 and 76 for a total of 150 strokes on the par-72 and 7,268-yard New Albany C.C. layout.  
 
Individually, junior Nick Bryan (Zanesville/ Rosecrans) placed in a tie for ninth with rounds of 83 and 79 for a two-day total of 162 strokes to earn All-OAC honors (Top 10 golfers) for the second time in his career. A year ago, Bryan missed the OAC Tournament due to an injury.
 
In addition, sophomore Matt Weiss (Mentor), this week�s OAC Men�s Golfer of the Week, placed in a tie for 13th individually and shot rounds of 88 and 77 for a 165-stroke total. He was followed by junior Cory Swaisgood (Fremont/ St. Joseph�s Central Catholic) in a tie for 24th with rounds of 91 and 78 for a 169-stroke total, junior 2008 All-OAC player Mike Falk (Strongsville) in a tie for 30th with rounds of 89 and 83 for a 172-stroke total and junior Tom Jesko (Salem) in 33rd place with rounds of 90 and 84 for a 174-stroke total.
 
For the season, Bryan led the team in stroke average at 75.79 for seven tournaments and 14 total rounds of 18 holes. Weiss was second at 78.79 and followed by Falk at 78.86, Jesko at 81.43, Swaisgood at 81.64, sophomore Brian Routhieaux (Gibsonia, Pa./ Mars Area) at 81.83, freshman Chris Juszczak (East Liverpool) at 84.14 and freshman Kyle Lewis (Riverside, Calif./ Riverside Poly) at 84.56 strokes. Also, freshman Ricky Jaskolski (North Royalton/ Parma Padua), who played in two tournaments before an injury ended his season, averaged 77.0 strokes for three rounds.
