Baldwin Wallace University Men's Golf Currently Eighth After Day One of OAC Tournament

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team currently stands in eighth place after the first day of competition at the 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference Golf Tournament hosted by Otterbein College at the New Albany Country Club in New Albany, Ohio. The second and final day of competition takes place tomorrow, Friday, May 1.  Tee times begin at 8:30 a.m.

The Yellow Jackets totaled 350 strokes throughout rainy and windy conditions all day and are just six shots out of fourth place. Host Otterbein College leads with a 327-stroke team total with Heidelberg University second (339) and Muskingum College third (341). 

Leading the way for BW was junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference player Nick Bryan (Zanesville/ Rosecrans) with an 18-hole score of 83 on the par-72 and 7,268-yard layout. Bryan is tied for sixth overall in the field. 

Sophomore Matt Weiss (Concord Township/ Mentor), this week's OAC Men's Golfer of the Week, carded an 88 and is tied for 22nd as an individual, junior All-OAC player Mike Falk (Strongsville) totaled 89, which places him tied for 28th as an individual, junior Tom Jesko (Salem/ Senior) carded a 90 and junior Cory Swaisgood (Fremont/ St. Joseph Central Catholic) tallied a 91. 

The winner of the OAC Tournament receives the OAC's automatic berth to the 2009 NCAA Division III National Tournament.
