Baldwin Wallace University Men's Golf Currently First After Day One of Wooster Invitational

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team shot an opening round 318 on the first day of the two-day Nye Intercollegiate hosted by The College of Wooster at Wooster Country Club in Wooster, Ohio.  BW currently stands in first place and is 11 strokes in front of second place Otterbein College.

Leading the way for BW was sophomore Matt Weiss (Concord Township/ Mentor) who is currently the 18-hole leader with a score of 76 on the par-72 layout. Weiss was followed by junior All-OAC player Mike Falk (Strongsville) who shot a 77, good for second as an individual.  Junior All-OAC player Nick Bryan (Zanesville/Bishop Rosecrans) carded an 80, while junior Tom Jesko (Salem/ Senior) shot an 85.  In addition, junior Cory Swaisgood (Fremont/ St. Joseph Central Catholic) finished the day with an 88.

Competing as individuals, sophomore Brian Routhieaux (Gibsonia, Pa./ Mars) carded an 84, freshman Kyle Lewis (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly) shot 88 and freshman Chris Juszczak (East Liverpool) shot a 91.

The Nye Intercollegiate continues tomorrow with the final round of competition with tee times yet to be announced.  The Yellow Jackets will be in action next on April 30th and May 1st at the 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Tournament hosted by Otterbein College at New Albany Country Club in New Albany.
