Baldwin Wallace University Sophomore Matt Weiss is the OAC Golfer of the Week

BEREA, OHIO: Baldwin Wallace University sophomore Matt Weiss (Concord Township/ Mentor) is this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for the Week of April 20-26.

 
Weiss earned his honor for his efforts in leading the Yellow Jackets to the team title at the nine-team Nye Intercollegiate Tournament at The College of Wooster and individually earning medalist honors.
 
At Wooster, Weiss fired rounds of 76 and 76 for a 36-hole total of 152 strokes on the par-72 and 6,454-yard Wooster Country Club layout and bested junior teammate Mike Falk (Strongsville) by one stroke for individual accolades. Falk shot rounds of 77 and 76 for a 153-stroke total and the Yellow Jackets won the team title by a whopping 19 strokes over second place Otterbein College.
 
This spring, Weiss has played in all six tournaments and 12 rounds of 18 holes and is third on the squad with a 78.12 stroke average and has recorded a season-best of 76 on five separate occassions.
 
This week, Weiss and his teammates travel to New Albany, Ohio on Thursday, April 30 to compete in the two-day and 36-hole 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Tournament, hosted by Otterbein College, at the New Albany Country Club.
