BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team finished ninth of 14 schools at the 2008 Denison University Fall Invitational Tournament (Saturday and Sunday, September 13-14) at the Granville Golf Club in Granville.
On the second day of competition, the Yellow Jackets tied for the fifth lowest team score by carding a team total of 303 (the top four scores of five total players counts toward the team score). Combined with a first-dat team total of 317 strokes, BW had 620 total strokes to tie Wabash (Ind.) College for ninth overall.
Individually, sophomore Matt Weiss (Concord/ Mentor) led the team as he carded an 36-hole score of 153 strokes (77-76) on the par-71 and 6,556-yard Granville G.C. layout. In addition, freshman Ricky Jaskolski (North Royalton/ Parma Padua Franciscan) was tied for second on the team with 154 strokes (80-74), including a team-low round of 74 on the second day. Jaskolski tied at 154 (78-76) with junior Cory Swaisgood (Fremont/ St. Joseph�s Centeal Catholic). Then junior All-OAC player Nick Bryan (Zanesville/Bishop Rosecrans) shot a 159 (82-77) and sophomore Brian Routhieaux (Gibsonia, Pa./Mars Area) had 160 strokes (83-77).
In addition and playing as individuals at Denison, junior Tom Jesko (Salem/ Senior) had a 157-stroke total (77-80);freshman Chris Jurzczak (East Liverpool) had a 160, including the low first day score with a 75, and freshman Kyle Lewis (Riverside, Calif./ Riverside Poly) had a 176 (87-89).
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 16 when they travel to Delaware, Ohio to participate in the Ohio Wesleyan University Fall Invitational Tournament at the Oakhaven Golf Club.
