Today's Contest
Today is the Ohio Athletic Conference opener and the second road contest of the season for the Baldwin Wallace University football team as it travels to Wilmington to take on Wilmington College.  BW opened up the 2021 fall season with a 31-28 loss to Mount St. Joseph University last Saturday.  Wilmington began its season with a 52-27 victory over Southern Virginia University on September 1.

The Series 
BW and Wilmington have met 22 times on the gridiron with the Yellow Jackets holding an 19-3 series lead, including 12 straight victories. The two teams did not meet in 2021 spring COVID-19 shortened OAC season. During the 12 game winning streak, BW has outscored the Quakers, 535-156. The series began in 1922 with Wilmington defeating the Yellow Jackets, 16-7, in Berea. The last Wilmington win came in 2008 when it beat the Yellow Jackets, 27-21, in Wilmington.

BW Head Coach Jim Hilvert
Hilvert is in his sixth season at BW and has a record of  29-14 and OAC slate of 23-13. He is 96-39 in his 14th overall season and is 4-0 against Wilmington. 

Wilmington Head Coach Corey Fillipovich
Fillipovich is in his first season at Wilmington and has a record of 3-2 and an OAC mark of 2-2.  He is 0-1 vs. Baldwin Wallace.  

Last Game vs. Wilmington -- October 23,  2022
BW scored 41 points on 359 yards rushing, 158 yards passing and 517  total yards.  Wilmington scored seven points on 146 yards passing, 83 yards rushing and 229 total yards. 

Scouting the Yellow Jackets
In week one of the season, BW scored 28 points on 233 yards rushing and 131 yards passing for a 364 yards of total offense. Mount St. Joseph scored 31 points on 265 yards passing and 152 yards rushing for 417 yards of total offense.

BW Leaders
Offensively, junior quarterback Joey Marousek (North Royalton) has completed nine of 15 passes for 131 yards with one touchdown.  Junior All-OAC running back Jon Murray, Jr. (Cincinnati/Withrow) leads the OAC and is fifth in NCAA Division III with 177 yards on 26 carries.  Murray, Jr. is also second in the OAC with two rushing touchdowns. Junior wideout Vinny Lomeo (East Amherst, N.Y./St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute) leads the receiving corps and is ninth in the OAC in yards with 63 yards on three catches. Defensively, senior linebacker Mason Levasseur (Panama City, Fla. / South Walton)  tops the team with 12 tackles.

Scouting the Quakers
In week one of the season, Wilmington scored 52 points on 382 yards passing, 128 yards rushing and 510 total yards. Southern Virginia scored 28 points on 189 yards passing, 99 yards rushing and 288 total yards. 

Wilmington Leaders
Offensively, sophomore quarterback Adam Dixon, who is this week's OAC Offensive Player of the Week,  has completed 25 of 41 passes for 382 yards with seven touchdowns. Junior running back Ben Hobbs leads the ground attack with 113 yards on 21 carries. Senior All-OAC wide receiver Itika Wynn, Jr. leads the receiving corps with seven receptions for 161 yards with three touchdowns. Defensively, sophomore linebacker Jarod Lee leads the team with 11 tackles. 

Rushing Towards Records
Murray, Jr. is rushing his way into the record books at BW.  The All-OAC running back is already the all-time leading rusher with 2,892 yards and carries with 579.  Murray, Jr. needs three touchdowns to set the career touchdown record of 40.

Parents and Family Game
The OAC home opener on September 24 against Ohio Northern University will be part of the BW Parents' and Family Weekend in which all parents, guardians, siblings and family members of current BW students can experience a fun-filled BW weekend.
