Hilvert Wins 100th Career Game, Football Defeats Muskingum in Hall of Fame and 44th Shrine Classic Game

BEREA, Ohio –Baldwin Wallace University Football Head Coach Jim Hilvert won his 100th career game as BW won an Ohio Athletic Conference, Hall of Fame and 44th Lee Tressel Shrine Classic game by a final score of 35-21 on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium.

BW (4-2, 4-1 OAC) improved to 50-13-2 in the all-time series with Muskingum (3-3, 2-3 OAC) including winning 15 of the last 17 contests.  In the last 17 meetings, the Yellow Jackets have outscored the Fighting Muskies by a margin of 532-247. 

Before the start of the second quarter, the nine newest members of the Athletics Alumni Hall of Fame were introduced to the Finnie Stadium crowd.

Senior All-OAC running back Jon Murray, Jr. (Cincinnati/Withrow). was selected as the BW Shrine Classic Player of the Game.  Senior All-OAC wide receiver Zuri Edmondson was named the Muskingum Shrine Classic Player of the Game.

Offensively for the Yellow Jackets, junior quarterback Joey Marousek (North Royalton) completed 9-of-17 passes for 98 yards with one touchdown and one interception.   Murray rushed for a game-high 151 yards on 30 carries with one touchdown.  Junior tight end Jonah Shrock (Howell, Mich.) caught four passes for 50 yards with a career-long of 32 yards.  Defensively, junior linebacker Vontae Jackson (Cleveland/John Hay) anchored a defense that allowed 51 yards rushing while recording seven tackles. 

Offensively for the Fighting Muskies, senior All-OAC quarterback Jordan Garrett, who is this week's OAC Offensive Player of the Week, completed 12-of-25 passes for 241 yards with two touchdowns and with a 90-yard touchdown.  Senior running back Donny Wilkinson rushed for 20 yards on four carries. Edmondson caught 12 passes for 203 yards with two touchdowns. Defensively, freshman defensive back Nick Sheldon tallied a game-high 13 tackles.

  • 2:41      Edmondson 90-yard pass from Garrett (Austin Meyers kick is good) 

3rd Quarter (BW, 35-21)

  • 7:19    Marousek 1-yard run (Sarris kick is good)
  • 7:06    Edmondson 75-yard pass from junior wide out Travantei Keitt (Meyers kick is good)
  • 3:59    Wamer 12-yard run (Sarris kick is good)
  • 1:17    Wilkinson 46-yard pass from Garrett (Meyers kick is good)
