BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team (26-6, 11-3 OAC) went 5-0 overall and 4-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference play last week to improve one spot in the D3baseball.com Top-25 Poll. The Yellow Jackets broke three records last week in a strong 5-0 showing and are ranked at No. 12 in the latest poll.

The Yellow Jackets secured two wins over Ohio Northern University, two wins over University of Mount Union, and a win over Oberlin College. The Yellow Jackets not only had a 12-homerun week, but in the game two win over ONU the team broke the BW Team Homerun Record previously set in 2018 at 43. After the week, the team now holds the record at 54 homeruns. In the same game against the Polar Bears, senior All-Mideast Region shortstop Alex Ludwick (Brunswick/Padua Franciscan) broke the BW Career Singles record in his first at-bat. 

BW faced Mount Union in the second OAC series of the week as the Yellow Jackets garnered the two-game sweep over the Purple Raiders by 14-12 and 9-5 final scores. Junior designated hitter Bryce Holt (Richfield/Revere) led BW, hitting 4-5 with three runs and two RBIs in game one. Also in game one, Ludwick garnered the BW Runs Batted-In Record, and now holds it at 159. In game two, senior relieve pitcher Scott Kirchhoff (Toledo/Sylvania Northview) earned the save, pitching four innings, allowing just one run, and posted four strikeouts.

To finish the weekend, the Yellow Jackets earned the big 25-1 victory over the Yeomen, tallying 20 hits and five homeruns. Freshman right hander Dylan Snyder (Stow/Archbishop Hoban) started and earned the win on the mound (1-0) for BW, pitching five innings, allowing just one run on three hits. BW had five different homerun hitters with a grand slam over left field by senior left fielder Bijan Kamalipour (Frisco, Texas/Jesuit College Preparatory School).

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, April 26 as the team travels to Akron to face the Zips in a non-conference single game. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. on Skeeles Field.
