BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team jumped into the D3baseball.com Top-25 Poll, slated at No. 17 this week in the national poll.

After being chosen as receiving votes in the previous two polls, the Yellow Jackets find themselves at the 17th spot after putting together a 6-1 record in the 2022 Snowbird Classic. During its Spring Break trip to Port Charlotte, Fla., BW averaged 10.5 runs per game and held their opponents to a four-run average.

The Yellow Jackets' big bats totaled 19 doubles, a triple, and nine homeruns over the week. BW had a standout performance against Sewanee (Tenn.): The University of the South, hitting five homeruns and beating the Tigers 23-3. The Yellow Jackets notched wins over Misericordia (Pa.) University, Alvernia (Pa.) University, Ohio Wesleyan University, Mitchell (Conn.) College, Sewanee, and Arcadia (Pa.) University while suffering a loss to Babson (Mass.) on their final day. 

The Yellow Jackets are 10-1 in the early season, tallying 12-3 and 11-2 wins over La Roche (Pa.) University, a 9-8 win over DePauw (Ind.) University, and a 9-4 win over Anderson (Ind.) University.

BW returns to play this weekend Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 20 as it hosts a two-day tournament at Fisher Field. The Yellow Jackets will take on Hiram College at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday to kick off the weekend.
