Murphy Punches Ticket to Nationals - Women's Cross Country Finishes 12th at Great Lakes Regional Championships

HOLLAND, Mich. – Sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection Hope Murphy (Mogadore) punched her ticket to the NCAA Division III National Championships as the rest of the Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team saw its season come to an end this afternoon, as it competed in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships, hosted by Hope College at the Three Fires Golf Course

In a 6-kilometer event that was composed entirely of schools within the Great Lakes Region, BW managed to place 12th of 34 eligible teams, scoring 312 points. John Carroll University took home the Great Lakes Regional team title with 81 points and Calvin University placed second with 106 points. Therefore, both John Carroll and Calvin secured the two regional automatic bids to the National Championships.

The Yellow Jackets were led by:

  • Murphy finished eighth in a time of 21:42.6. She will compete at the NCAA Division III National Championships next weekend in East Lansing, Michigan.
  • Junior Academic All-OAC performer Maddie Miller (Medina) placed 42nd in a time of 22:38.4.
  • Sophomore Cassie Kolonchuk (Canal Winchester) finished 51st in a time of 22:43.9.
  • Junior Jensen Wolfe (Somerset / Sheridan) placed 105th in a time of 23:53.9
  • Sophomore Jaelyn Jaquay (Cherry Valley, N.Y. / Springfield Central) finished 111th in a time of 24:02.8
