Murphy Wins All-Ohio Division III Championship; Women's Cross Country Placed Fourth

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection Hope Murphy (Mogadore) wins All-Ohio Division III Championship as The Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team placed fourth.

In a five-kilometer event that was composed entirely of colleges from the state of Ohio, the race featured schools from the NCAA Division I, II, and III level, and from NAIA institutions as well. For Division III, BW managed to place fourth out of 15 teams, scoring 107 adjusted points. When including participating schools across all divisions, the Yellow Jackets came in 11th place out of 33 teams with 356 points. John Carroll University took home the Division III title with 34 adjusted points, and Cedarville University finished in first overall with 17 total points.

BW was led in the 5K event by:

  • Murphy placed first on the Division III side and sixth overall out of 334 runners in a time of 18:06.9. She earns her first All-Ohio honors by placing in the top 35.
  • Junior Academic All-OAC performer Maddie Miller (Medina) finished 27th on the Division III side and 92nd overall in a time of 19:46.3
  • Sophomore Cassie Kolonchuk (Canal Winchester) placed 28th on the Division III side and 99th overall in a time of 19:52.7. 
  • Sophomore Jaelyn Jaquay (Cherry Valley, N.Y. / Springfield Central) placed 32nd on the Division III side and 115th overall in a time of 20:04.2. 
  • Freshman Charlotte Jones ( Brecksville / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) finished 47th on the Division III side and 160th overall in a time of 20:54.5. 

The Yellow Jackets will return to the course on Saturday, October 1st when they travel to East Lansing, Michigan to compete in the NCAA Division III National Preview on Forest Akers Golf Course
