MEADVILLE, Pa. - The Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team finished second in the Allegheny (Pa.) Classic, hosted by Allegheny College at the Robertson Athletic Complex in Meadville, Pa.
BW finished second of eight teams with 71 points. Host Allegheny won the team title with 40 points. Clarion University of Pennsylvania took third behind Baldwin Wallace with 88 points.
Leading the way for the Yellow Jackets for the second meet in a row was junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain) as she placed 1st in the 4827 meters event at 18:28.9. Freshmen Hope Murphy (Mogadore) finished right behind Laughner in 3rd place in 18:51.5.
Freshman Cassie Kolonchuk (Canal Winchester) ran a 20:38.0 to finish in 24th place. Right behind Kolonchuk was freshmen Cori Wentz (Mansfield/Ontario) finishing with a time of 20:45.1 in 26th place. Rounding out the top five was sophomore Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection Maddie Miller (Medina) with a time of 20:52.3 in 29th place.
BW will have a week to recharge before competing in the 47th Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University at Murray H. Goodman Campus in Bethlehem, Pa. on Friday, Oct. 1st.
