Wrestling Jumps to No. 7 in Latest NWCA Poll

MANHEIM, Pa. – The four-time defending Ohio Athletic Conference Champion Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team jumped to No. 7 in the third regular season National Wrestling Coaches Association Division lll poll.

BW (1-0 OAC), who was No. 9 in the last ranking, lands at No. 7 after defeating Ohio Northern University, 28-6 on Tuesday November 19. At the BW Invitational, the Yellow Jackets had two champions. No. 7 individually-ranked junior two-time All-OAC and Academic All-OAC 157-pounder Stanley Bleich (North Ridgeville/Elyria Catholic) and junior 133-pounder Chad Craft (Dayton/Northmont) each placed first in their respective weight classes.

Senior All-American and Academic All-OAC 141-pounder Charlie Nash (Norwalk) and senior All-American and two-time All-OAC 197-pounder Zeckary Lehman (Akron/Revere) each remain ranked in their respective weight classes. Nash earned a second-place finish at the BW Invite and also added a 2-0 decision in the ONU match. Lehman placed second at the Invite and secured a 3-1 decision in the ONU match.

Wartburg (Iowa) College sits atop the rankings at No. 1. Loras (Iowa) College was slated second with Augsburg (Minn.) University at third. Wabash (Ind.) College was placed fourth and Johnson & Wales (R.I.) University rounds out the top five. The University of Mount Union was tabbed sixth and John Carroll University was 21st.  

BW welcomes No. 6 Mount Union to Ursprung Gymnasium for the second OAC contest of the season.
