Nash Notches 100th Career Victory, No. 8 Wrestling Defeats No. 22 John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – In an Ohio Athletic Conference and top-25 matchup, the No. 8 Nationally-Ranked Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team edged out John Carroll University by a final of 21-13, inside the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.

BW (9-3 overall, 3-1 OAC) won six of ten matches, with three major decisions and three decisions.

No. 5 Nationally-Ranked senior All-American and Academic All-OAC 141-pounder Charlie Nash (Norwalk) secured his 100th career victory with a 9-0 major decision. Nash is one of nine BW wrestlers to achieve this milestone and now owns a 100-40 career record.

Freshman 174-pounder Luke Salmon (Sandusky/Perkins) secured the first Yellow Jacket victory after a 5-1 decision, improving to 12-7 on the season.

Freshman 197-pounder Doug Byrne (Wickliffe) followed with an 11-3 major decision. Byrne is now 20-6 on the year with three major decisions.

No. 8 senior All-American and two-time All-OAC 197-pounder Zeckary Lehman (Akron/Revere) grabbed a 10-0 major decision. Lehman is now 19-4 on the season and has 108 career victories.

Sophomore 285-pounder Jarod Miller (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) seized a 4-1 decision. Miller improves to 15-11 on the campaign.

No. 4 junior two-time All-OAC and Academic All-OAC 157-pounder Stanley Bleich (North Ridgeville/Elyria Catholic) sealed the final bout with a 10-6 decision and improves to 26-2 on the year.

BW is back in action on Saturday, Janauary 25 when it travels to Tiffin for three OAC matches against Heidelberg University, Muskingum University and Otterbein University inside the Seiberling Gymnasium.  The first match begins at 10 a.m.
