Six Wrestling Student-Athletes Garner Academic All-OAC Honors

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Six Baldwin Wallace University wrestling student-athletes have landed on the 2019-20 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Junior 149-pounder Stanley Bleich (North Ridgeville/Elyria Catholic), sophomore 174-pounder Aidan Cardaman (Geneva), junior 141-pounder Tanner McHugh (New Ringgold, Pa./Tamaqua), senior 133-pounder Charles Nash (Norwalk), senior 157-pounder Nick Sbrocco (Perry), and junior 157-pounder Trevor Scherf (Graytown/Oak Harbor).

Bleich, earning his second consecutive Academic All-OAC award, is an English/Religion who owns a 3.654 grade point average(GPA) and is a Dean's List Student. Bleich ended his junior campaign a national qualifier after securing the central region title with a flawless 4-0 sweep. With his 99-20 career record, he ranks 10th all-time in BW school history.   

Cardaman collects his first Academic All-OAC honor. He is an education major and Dean's List Student who carries a 3.667 GPA. Cardaman holds a 10-28 career record with four pins and two major decisions.

McHugh will earn his second consecutive Academic All-OAC award. McHugh is a business administration and marketing double major who holds a 3.81 GPA and is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar. The junior holds a 64-32 career mark with four pins and nine major decisions.

Nash, who garners his third consecutive Academic All-OAC team, is an economics major who carries a 3.601 GPA. He is also a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, and a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. A National Qualifier, Nash compiled a 30-7 record this year and eclipsed 100 career victories. He currently sits at No. 5 on BW's all-time career wins leaderboard with a career record of 112-44.

Sbrocco, a three-time Academic All-OAC selection, is an accounting major who carries a 3.881 GPA. Nick is also a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society, and a member of the Accounting Association. Sbrocco carries a 69-37 career record, which ranks him 36th on BW's all-time career wins list.  

Scherf will earn his second Academic All-OAC award. Trevor is a middle childhood education major who carries a 3.56 GPA. A Dean's List Student, Scherf owns a career mark of 35-27 with eight pins, two technincall falls, and four major decisions.
