#8 Wrestling Grabs Victory Over US Merchant Marine Academy

KINGS PORT, N.Y – The No. 8-Nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team squared off against the US Merchant Marine Academy, coming away with the 28-16 victory, inside the Liebertz Gymnasium.

Junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference Nicholas Berry (Laura/Dayton Carroll) got things started for BW (5-1, 1-1 OAC) grabbing a 6-2 decision and a 3-0 early lead. At 141lbs, Tanner McHugh (New Ringgold, Pa./Tamaqua) sealed a 12-3 major decision, bringing the score to 7-3, Yellow Jackets. All-OAC Stanley Bleich (North Ridgeville/Elyria Catholic) followed with a 10-2 major decision at 149lbs. Senior 157lb pounder Richie Burke (Ithica, N.Y/Ithica) followed with a 16-0 technical fall over his opponent. Grabbing a quick 2:06 pinfall in the next match was senior two-time All-American Anthony Arroyo (Maumee) at 165lb. Claiming another pinfall in 2:13, at 197lb was senior two-time All-OAC Zeckary Lehman (Akron/Rever).

The Yellow Jackets hit the mats next on Saturday December, 16 when they compete in the Long Island Open, hosted by Nassau Community College, in Garden City, New York.
