Leightner Garners First OAC Wrestler of the Week Accolade

AUTINTOWN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University sophomore Dalton Leightner (Ravenna/Rootstown) has been named Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week for the first time in his career.

Leightner started his perfect weekend with a 3:00 pin in the OAC clinching victory over Ohio Northern University on Friday night. He then went on to take first place at the John Carroll Open after securing four straight victories. His first bout came by way of a 4:17 pin and his quarterfinal match was also won with a 5:44 fall. In his semifinal match he claimed a 23-7 technical fall and won his championship bout with a hard fought, 1-0 decision.

Leightner is now 42-22 in his career and has 21 pins, 10 technical falls, and five major decision victories.  

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday and Saturday, February 22-23 when they travel to Crawfordsville, Indiana to defend their NCAA Division III Central Regional Championship on the campus of Wabash College.  Action is slated to begin on both days at 10 a.m.
