No.10 Wrestling Earns First at BW Invitational

BEREA, Ohio – The No. 10-nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team hosted seven different teams for the Baldwin Wallace Invitational, inside Ursprung Gymnasium at the Lou Higgins Center, and finished first with 189.5 points.

BW (0-1, 0-1 OAC) had nine wrestlers earn first place finishes. Senior two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference 157-pounder Richie Burke (Ithaca, N.Y.) led the way with 27 points. His quarterfinal victory came by a pinfall at 4:45, and his semi came off another pinfall at a swift 34 seconds. Burke won his 1st place bout off a 10-0 major decision.

Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC 133-pounder Dante Ginnetti (Poland/Seminary) marked 22 points with two matches bring decided by pinfalls of 4:22 and 4:03. His championship bout was won by a 14-6 major decision.

Sophomore 125-pounder Chad Craft (Dayton/Northmont) tallied 21.5 points for the day with a pinfall of 4:09, a tech fall of 7-3, and a first place finish with a 10-2 major decision.

Senior two-time All-American 165-pounder Anthony Arroyo (Maumee) earned a first place finish after a quarterfinal victory by pinfall at 1:37. He then won his semifinal match with another pinfall at 1:46, and won his first place match with a 13-1 major decision.

Sophomore All-OAC 149-pounder Stanley Bleich (North Ridgeville/Elyria Catholic) marked 17 points off one pinfall of 2:43, and his semifinal came by 17-5. Bleich's final match was won by a close 4-2 decision.

Earning 17 points was senior two-time All-OAC 197-pounder Zeckary Lehman (Akron/Revere). He won his quarterfinal by a 3:43 pinfall, and his semifinal by a 5-0 decision. In his finals match, Lehman won again by decision, 4-0.

Sophomore 141-pounder Tanner McHugh (New Ringgold, Pa./Tamaqua) earned a first place finish in his respective weight class after winning his three matches by decision. His quarterfinal was won 6-4, semifinal at 6-0, and final at 3-2. Junior Academic All-OAC 141-pounder Charlie Nash (Norwalk) placed 2nd, after falling to teammate McHugh in the final.

Senior All-OAC 184-pounder Justin Ransom (Mason) recorded 17 points for the day by winning his quarterfinal match by a 15-4 major decision. He then won his semifinal match by a pinfall of 2:47, and won the finals by a 9-5 decision.

For the 285 weight class, BW had a first place finisher in two-time Academic All-OAC James Ritchie (Carlisle) and second place finisher in freshman Parker Meaney (Ashtabula/Lakeside). Ritchie won his first match off a 31 second pinfall. He then won his semifinal match with a 10-1 major decision, and earned a 1st place finish with a 3:42 pinfall. Meaney claimed victories in his first two matches by pinfalls of 5:13 and 2:52, respectively, before falling to his fellow teammate in the finals.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action again on November 27, when they host OAC foe John Carroll for a dual match inside the Lou Higgins Center. Match will begin at 7 p.m.
