Eight Wrestling Student-Athletes Selected to Academic All-OAC Team

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Eight Baldwin Wallace University wrestling student-athletes have been selected to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Senior James Ritchie (Carlisle), junior All-American 133-pounder Charlie Nash (Norwalk), junior All-OAC 125-pounder Dante Ginnetti (Poland/Seminary), junior Nicholas Berry (Laura/Dayton Carroll), junior Nick Sbrocco (Perry), sophomore All-OAC 149-pounder Stanley Bleich (North Ridgeville/Elyria Catholic), sophomore Tanner McHugh (New Ringgold, Pa./Tamaqua) and sophomore Trevor Scherf (Graytown/Oak Harbor) are eight of the 23 Yellow Jacket student-athletes to be recognized this winter. 

Ritchie, who earns his third career Academic All-OAC honor, is a graduate student in business management who carries a 3.92 GPA. He is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Societies and a National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American. Ritchie also received the 2016-17 BW Academic Excellence Award for having the highest GPA on the team. For his career, he owns a 59-36 record with 21 pins.

Nash, who garners his second consecutive Academic All-OAC accolade, is an economics major with a 3.59 GPA. He earned his first All-American honor with a fourth-place finish at 133 pounds at the 2019 NCAA Championships. Off the mat, Nash is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), an NWCA Scholar All-American and an MWCA All-Academic selection. In his three-year career, he has compiled 82 career wins to rank 22nd in school history. 

Ginnetti, who is named to his second Academic All-OAC team, is an accounting major who carries a 3.97 GPA. He is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, an NWCA All-Academic selection and a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/Google Cloud Academic All-District 7 at-large selection. Ginnetti was also the 2017-18 BW Academic Excellence Award recipient for having the highest GPA on the team. For his career, he owns a 85-28 record with a .752 winning percentage to rank 20th all time.

Berry, who earns his second career Academic All-OAC honor, is a software engineering major who carries a 3.72 GPA. He is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, and an NWCA Scholar All-American. On the mat, Berry carries a career 58-25 record with 28 pins.

Sbrocco, who also garners his second consecutive Academic All-OAC accolade, is a finance and accounting double major who carries a 3.92 GPA. Off the mat, he is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and a member of the Accounting Association. For his career, Sbrocco carries a 46-29 mark and has recorded 10 pins. 

Bleich, who is named to his first Academic All-OAC team, is an English and religion double major who carries a 3.68 GPA. A Dean's List student, he also owns an NWCA All-Academic selection. In his two years on the mat, Bleich has a 61-18 career record with seven pins. 

McHugh, who earns his first career Academic All-OAC honor, is a marketing major who carries a 3.91 GPA. He is a Dean's List student. For his career, McHugh owns a 45-22 record with three pins and eight major decisions.

Scherf, who garners his first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a middle childhood education major who carries a 3.50 GPA. A Dean's List student, Scherf holds a career mark of 22-16 with five pins and four major decisions.
