CAREER SYNOPSIS:  Richie competed in four seasons of wrestling and earned three varsity letters. He missed part of his original junior season in 2017-2018 due to an injury. 

Richie helped the Yellow Jackets compile a 72-15 overall record, including a 22-1 Ohio Athletic Conference record and four OAC regular season championships -- the first time that has happened in school history. Richie helped BW win its first-ever NCAA Division III Central Region title as a junior and three second place showings at the regional level. The Yellow Jackets were ranked in the Top-10 of the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III poll each season.

The marketing and finance major with a 3.2 grade point average ended his career ranked 32nd all-time in career victoriies with 72 and had a 72-38 record with a .655 winning percentage with 31 pins. He had a career-high 26 wins as a freshman, a career-high 11 pins as a sophomore and was an NCAA Division III All-Central Region honoree and qualified for the 2019 NCAA Div. III National Championship Tournament as a senior. He was a three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree, as a freshman, sophomore and senior and a two-time OAC Wrestler of the Week, once as a freshman and once as a sophomore.

Individually, Richie was ranked nationally by the NWCA as both a junior, prior to his junior, and as a senior. In addition to his 72 wins and a 72-38 record with 31 pins, he had two technical falls, 86 takedowns 79 escapes, 23, reversals and 123 total near falls.

THROUGH-THE-YEARS WITH RICHIE BURKE:    As a freshman in 2015-2016, Richie competed in his first season of wrestling and earned his first varsity letter. He began the season splitting time between the 157 and 165pound weight classes. He earned the starting role at 157 pounds midway through the season. He compiled a 26-17 overall record, including a 3-0 mark against OAC foes. He had nine pins and three technical falls. Richie earned OAC Wrestler of the Week honors on February 22, 2016 for his pin versus Heidelberg University on Feb. 16 that helped to clinch the OAC title. He also earned second-team All-OAC honors. BW reset the school-record for single-season wins with 18, compile an 18-8 overall and perfect 5-0 OAC record and an OAC title and place second at the 2016 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Tournament.

As a sophomore in 2016-2017, Richie competed in his second season of wrestling and earned his second letter. He was the starting at 149 pounds. Richie was named as the OAC Wrestler of the Week on December 12, 2016. He was a second-team All-OAC choice for the second straight season. Richie moved from 157 pounds to 149 pounds part way through the season. He compiled a 16-10 record with 11 pins. He also had 18 takedowns, 19 escapres and five reversals. He helped the Yellow Jackets compile a school-record 22 wins and a 22-3 dual match record, captured a second straight OAC title with a 6-0 mark, place second at the Mideast Regional for the second straight year, ended the season ranked ninth in Div. III by the NWCA and placed 25th at the NCAA Div. III national tourney.

As a junior in 2017-2018, Richie competed in his third season of wrestling and earn his third letter. An injury forced him to cut his season short in early December 2017. He was the starting 157-pounder at the time of his injury and compiled an 8-2 record with four pins and one fall. He also had four takedowns, one reversal and three total near falls. BW had a 19-2 overall record, including winning its third straight OAC title with a 6-0 mark, won its first-ever Regional title and placed 15th at the 2018 NCAA Division III National Tournament at Public Hall in Ceveland.

As a senior in 2018-2019, Richie competed in his fourth season of wrestling and earned his fourth letter. He was the starter at 157 pounds and earned second-team All-OAC honors for the third time in his career. Richie had a 4-1 record at the NCAA Div. III Central Regional to place third, earn All-Central Region honors and qualify for the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. He had an 0-2 record at the Div. III National Tournament in Roanoke, Virginia. Richie compiled a 22-9 seasonal record with seven pins and eight falls. He also had 31 takedowns, 17 escapes, five reversals and 37 total near falls. BW finished the regular season ranked fifth nationally in the NWCA Division III National poll, had a 13-2 overall dual match record, including a 5-1 OAC record and its fourth straight OAC title and placed 14th at the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament and second in the NCAA Div. III Central Region tourney in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
