BW ATHLETIC INFORMATION:  Josh Decatur competed in three seasons of wrestling at Baldwin Wallace Univesity from 2013 through 2017, and earned three varsity letters. The two-time NCAA Division III national tournament qualifier compiled a 72-47 career record and helped BW to win the 2017 Ohio Athletic Conference title. 

NCAA DIVISION III NATIONAL QUALIFIER:  As a senior in 2016-2017, Josh qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division III National Tournament when he won the 141-pound weight class at the Mideast Regional Tournament and earned All-Mideast Region honors. He also qualified for the 2014-2015 NCAA Div. III national tourney with a third place finish at the Mideast Regional (see more below in Through-the-Years)

MIDEAST REGION TOURNEY CO-WRESTLER OF THE YEAR:   As a senior in 2016-2017, Josh won the 141-pound weight class at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Tournament at York College in York, Pennsylvania. He was subsequently named as the 2017 Co-Mideast Regional Tournament Wrestler of the Year.

OAC WRESTLER OF THE WEEK HONORS:   As a sophomore in 2014-2015, Josh earned Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week honors on January 26, 2015.

CAREER SYNOPSIS:   Josh Decatur wrestled for three seasons and earned three varsity letters. He missed his junior (2015-2016) season.  He helped the Yellow Jackets establish themselves as the best team in the OAC and one of the best in both the Mideast Region and in Division III. BW won two OAC titles and placed second at the Mideast Region twice. During his three seasons on the mat, BW compiled a 53-12 record.

Individually, Josh had a 72-47 career record with a .605 winning percentage, including a career-high 33 victories as a sophomore in 2014-2015. He also had six pins and one technical fall. Josh was a two-time NCAA Division III national qualifier (2014-2015 and 2016-2017), twice earned All-Mideast Region honors (third place in 2014-2015) and champion (in 2016-2017), was named as the 2017 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Co-Wrestler of the Year. He also  was an OAC Wrestler of the Week selection. Statistically, Josh had 191 take downs, 142 escapes, 21 reversals and 28 total near falls.

THROUGH-THE-YEARS:  As a freshman in 2013-2014, Josh competed in his first season of wrestling and earned his first varsity letter.  He competed for mat time at 141-pounds. Josh had a 16-20 overall record with 52 take downs, 45 escapes, seven reversals and nine total near falls. BW finished 8-3 overall and 22nd at the 2014 NCAA Division III National Tournament.

As a sophomore in 2014-2015, Josh competed in his second season of wrestling and earned his second letter. He started at 141 pounds. Josh earned OAC Wrestler of the Week honors on January 26, 2015 for compiling a 4-0 record, including a 3-0 mark and leading BW to the title at the Thiel (Pa.) College Mel Berry Duals on Jan. 23. He placed third at the NCAA Division III Mideast Region Tournament and qualified (top-three qualify) for the 2015 NCAA Division III National Tournament. He narrowly missed becoming a Div. III All-American at 141 pounds. Josh had a 33-12 record with four pins and one technical fall. He also had a team-leading 88 take downs, 51 escapes, nine reversals and eight total near falls. BW finished with a school-record 17 victories, finished 17-6 overall and placed second, including a 4-1 OAC dual match mark, won the John Summa Memorial Tournament title, placed sixth at the Div. III Mideast Regional and 20th at the 2015 NCAA Division III National Tournamet in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

As a junior in 2015-2016, Josh did not complete the wrestling season. BW compiled a school-record 18 victories with an 18-8 overall record, won the OAC title with a perfect 5-0 record and placed an all-time best second at the NCAA Div. III Mideast Regional Tournament and 31st at the NCAA Div. III national tourney.

As a senior in 2016-2017, Josh competed in his third season of wrestling and earned his third varsity letter.  He started at 141 pounds. Josh qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division III National Tournament when he won the 141-pound weight class at the Mideast Regional Tournament, earned All-Mideast Region honors and was named as the Co-Mideast Regional Tournament Wrestler of the Year. At the 2017 NCAA Division III National Tournament, Josh won his first two matches, but lost his next two and was eliminated one victory shy of becoming a Division III All-American. He had a 23-15 record this season with two pins. He also had 51 take downs, 46 escapes, five reversals and 11 total near falls.. He helped the Yellow Jackets compile a school-record 22 wins and a 22-3 dual match record, captured a second straight OAC title, place second at the Mideast Regional for the second straight year, end the season ranked ninth in Div. III by the NWCA and place 25th at the Div. III national tourney.
