Wrestling Team Defeats Cross-Town Rival Case Western Reserve

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College wrestling team defeated Cleveland cross-town and nonleague rival Case Western Reserve University, 30-15, tonight (Friday, November 11, 2011) in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center in first year head coach Jamie Gibbs debut.

The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman 174-pounder Tyler Blaine (Columbus/ Worthington Kilbourne) as he won by a technical fall in 3:59, 16-0.

In addition to Blaine, freshman 149-pounder Sam McIntosh (South Euclid/Brush) won by a major decision of 10-1 and sophomore 141-pounder Andrew Taylor (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) and won by a 7-4 decision.

Winning by forfeits was senior 133-pounder Jeremy Dombrady (Copley), freshman 165-pounder Alex Cahill (Westlake) and 174-pounder Sam Recinos (Mount Pleasant, S.C./Wando).

The Yellow Jacket grapplers are back in action next Saturday, Nov. 19 when they travel to Ashland to compete at the 17th Annual Harris Open. Action begins at 9:30 a.m.  The next home match is on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 against Cleveland cross-town and Ohio Athletic Conference rival John Carroll University at 7:30 p.m.

Following its trip to Ashland, the B-W grapplers will travel to Rochester, New York to compete in the Rochester Institute of Technology (N.Y.) Tournament on Saturday December, 3. Wrestling will begin at 9:30 a.m.
