BW Defeats Wooster for Ninth Straight Win

BEREA, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team won its school-record ninth straight game with a 19-15 defeat of the College of Wooster on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium.
 
The game featured BW (10-2) Head Coach Kim Russell's daughter Maddie Russell facing BW Assistant Coach Candi Parry's daughter Ashley Parry playing for Wooster (0-5).

During the nine game winning streak, the Yellow Jackets outscored its opponents 159-65; including 95-27 over the last five games.
 
BW was led by freshman midfielders Sierra Thomas (Medina) who tied the school-record with six goals. Freshman midfielder Maddie Russell (Lakewood / Rocky River) tallied four goals. Juniors Victoria Budzyn (East Aurora, N.Y.) had three goals and Cara Wood (Shaker Heights / Laurel) recorded three goals. Senior midfielder Colleen Bodkin (East Aurora, N.Y.) tallied two goals.
 
The Fighting Scots (0-5) were led by Abby Szlachta who tallied four goals.
 
Wooster scored two unanswered goals to start the game before the Yellow Jackets tallied their first goal scored by Sierra Thomas. The Fighting Scots scored six unanswered goals before BW answered with three goals to cut the score to 8-4. Wooster outscored the Yellow Jackets 3-2 over the remainder of the half and led 11-6 at the intermission. Maddie Russell tallied two goals in the first half.
 
The Yellow Jackets opened the second half by outscoring Wooster 11-3 to take a 17-14 lead when Victoria Budzyn and Cara Wood tallied their second goals of the game. After the game was tied at 13-13, BW outscored the Fighting Scots 6-2 to secure the victory.
 
In goal, senior Bridget Walsh (Elyria/ Elyria Catholic) played all 60 minutes, allowed 14 goals, made six saves and improved to 10-2 overall.
 
The Yellow Jackets are back on Saturday, April 12 when they host Wilmington College in the first ever Ohio Athletic Conference on the Tressel Field at 7:30 p.m. Fans can follow or watch the game via live stats and video at http://livestats.prestosports.com/baldwinwallace/
