BEREA, Ohio – Freshman midfielder Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa.) recorded her second career hat trick, but the Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team fell to Olivet (Mich.) College, 8-6, at Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium.

The loss drops the Yellow Jackets to 2-3.  Olivet improves to 2-1.

Tallmadge scored a game-high-tying four goals for the second time this season in leading BW.  Sophomore attack Victoria Budzyn (East Aurora, N.Y.) also scored twice and matched junior midfielder Colleen Bodkin (East Aurora, N.Y.) for a team-high four groundballs.  Junior midfielder Ellen Fedick (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) registered her first career assist.

Sophomore Taylor Guarnaccia matched a game-high with four goals to lead Olivet.

BW opened the contest by scoring three goals within the game's first two-and-a-half minutes, including two from Tallmadge and another by Budzyn.

Guarnaccia scored three unassisted goals, including a man-up score, during a 4-0 Olivet run to give the Comets a 4-3 edge.

Tallmadge tied the game, 4-4, at the 15:10 mark with her third goal of the game.

Sophomore Mimi Garza and Gaurnaccia each netted goals with less than two minutes to play in the first half to give Olivet a 6-4 lead going into the break.

Tallmadge and Budzyn each scored goals to open the second half and tie the game, 6-6.

Garza scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal in a man-up opportunity at the 22:49 mark and freshman Brooke Stano netted an insurance goal to secure the win.

Olivet outshot BW by a 21-17 margin and held a 23-20 advantage in ground balls.

BW controlled nine of 16 draws.

Junior Bridget Walsh (Elyria/Elyria Catholic) logged all 60 minutes in goal and made seven saves for the Yellow Jackets.  Sarah Shaw collected four saves in 60 minutes of action for Walsh.

Prior to the game, student-athletes from both teams formed a circle by joining hands at midfield while the stadium crowd observed a moment of silence in wake of last weekend's bus accident involving the Seton Hill (Pa.) University women's lacrosse team.

BW returns to action Saturday, April 6 when it faces Franciscan University at 1 p.m. in the first game of a women's and men's doubleheader.
