BW Women’s Lacrosse Ends Inaugural Season With Loss to Mount Union

BEREA, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team ended its inaugural season tonight (Tuesday, April 23, 2013) with a 19-2 loss to the University of Mount Union at Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium.  Head coach Kim Russell honored seniors Sam Husted (Olmsted Falls) and Chandra Sudtelgte (Lakeland, Minn./ Stillwater Area) prior to the game for their contributions to the program in its first season.

The Yellow Jackets end the 2013 campaign 4-6 overall.  Mount Union improves to 12-1.
 
Sophomore midfielder Victoria Budzyn (East Aurora, N.Y./ East Aurora) scored both BW goals, her team-leading 22nd and 23rd of the season.

Freshman Kendyl Stone led Mount Union with four goals and one assist, and freshman Emily Bergert added three goals.  Six other Purple Raiders scored two goals apiece.

Budzyn gave BW its only lead of the game at the 26:22 mark of the first half with her first goal of the contest.  Her second score came at 10:16 of the opening period and ended a 13-0 Mount Union run.

The Purple Raiders added one more score before halftime.

The Yellow Jacket defense limited Mount Union to just 10 shots and five goals over the game's final 30 minutes.

Mount Union outshot BW, 34-7, held a 28-11 advantage in ground balls, and controlled 20 of 23 draws.
 
Junior Bridget Walsh (Elyria/ Elyria Catholic) logged all 60 minutes in goal and made eight saves for the Yellow Jackets.  She also collected a team-high three ground balls.
