BW Women's Basketball One of the Best in All of Division III

A Timeline of Success...

The Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team has won nine Ohio Athletic Conference regular season titles and seven OAC Tournament championships.

The Yellow Jackets also have advanced to 15 NCAA Division III National Tournaments, including to the "Sweet 16" five times and to the "Elite Eight" three times.

Here is a synopsis of the history.

1994-95

  • Set school-record for wins (16)
  • Set school-record for OAC wins (11)

1995-96

  • Reset school-record for wins in a season (18)
  • First-ever Ohio Athletic ConferenceTournament Championship Game Appearance
  • First-ever trip to the NCAA Division III National Tournament

1996-97

  • Reset school-record for wins in a season (23) and posted first 20+ win season
  • Reset school-record for OAC wins (16)
  • Second straight trip to the OAC Title Game
  • Second straight NCAA Division III National Tournament appearnce
  • Hosted its first-ever NCAA Division III National Tournament Game versus Calvin (Mich.) College

1997-98

  • Tied school-record for wins in a season (23)
  • Third straight trip to the OAC Championship Game
  • Third straight NCAA Division III National Tournament appearance
  • Defeated Hope (Mich.) College, 75-71, for first-ever NCAA Tournament win and its first-ever NCAA Div. III National Tournament Game in Berea
  • Advanced to the second round of the NCAA Div. III National Tournament

1998-99

  • First #1-ranking in school history in the Division III National Rankings
  • Reset school-records for overall victories (26) and OAC (17) wins
  • Won its first-ever OAC Regular Season title (17-1 record)
  • Fourth straight appearance in the OAC Championship Game
  • Won its first-ever OAC Tournament Championship Game with a 54-51 win versus Capital University
  • Hosted an NCAA Div. III National Tournament Game for the second straight season
  • Advanced to its fourth straight NCAA Division III National Tournament

1999-00

  • Set single-season school-record for wins (28)
  • Set school-record for OAC wins with a perfect 18-0 mark
  • Won its second straight OAC Regular Season title
  • Advanced to its fifth straight OAC Tournament Championship Game
  • Defeated Capital University, 70-66, for second straight OAC Tournament title
  • Advanced to its fifth straight NCAA Division III National Tournament
  • Hosted an NCAA Div. III National Tournament Game for the third straight seasion
  • Defeated Wilmington College, 77-72, in the first round of the NCAA Div. III National Tournament
  • Defeated Calvin (Mich.) College, 76-72 in O.T., to win an NCAA Div. III Regional title
  • Advanced to the "Elite Eight" of the NCAA Div. III National Tournament for the first time in school history
  • Lost to the eventual Div. III national champion in the "Elite 8"
  • Ranked #2 in the fginal NCAA Division III National Poll

2000-01

  • Won its third straight OAC Regular Season title
  • Advanced to its sixth straight OAC Tournament Championship Game
  • Defeated the University of Mount Union, 73-66, to win its third straight OAC Tournament title
  • Advanced to its sixth straight NCAA Division III National Tournament
  • Hosted the first and second round of the NCAA Div. III National Tournament for the fourth straight season
  • Defeated Defiance College, 82-63, in the first round of the NCAA Div. III National Tournament to avenge a 1996 NCAA tourney loss
  • Defeated Hardin-Simmons (Texas), 78-71, to win to advance to "Sweet 16"
  • Hosted first-ever "Elite 8" game in Berea

2002-03

  • Advanced to the NCAA Division III National Tournament for the seventh time in school history
  • Hosted the first round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament for the fifth straight season
  • Defeated Wittenberg University, 64-57, in the first round of the NCAA tourney
  • Advanced to the second round of the NCAA Div. III national tourney

2003-04

  • Won its fourth OAC Regular season title

2004-05

  • Won its fifth OAC Regular season title
  • Defeated defending NCAA Division III National Champion Wilmington College, 81-59, at Wilmington in OAC Tournament Championship Game to win its fourth OAC Tournament title
  • Advanced to NCAA Division III Tournament for eighth time in 10 years

2005-06

  • Won its sixth OAC Regular Season title
  • Advanced to the OAC Tournament Championship Game
  • Received its ninth NCAA Division III National Tournament berth
  • Hosted the first two rounds of the NCAA Div. III National Tournament
  • Defeated SUNY-Oswego, 73-69, in the first round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament
  • Defeated William Smith (N.Y.) College, 71-65, in the second round of the NCAA Div. III National Tournament to advance to its fourth "Sweet 16" in school history
  • Defeated Williams (Mass.) College, 68-61, in Scranton, Pennsylvania in the "Sweet 16"
  • Advanced to its third NCAA Div. III National Tournament "Elite 8"

2007-08

  • Won its seventh OAC Regular Season title in school history
  • Won its fifth OAC Tournament title in school history
  • Defeated Wilmington College, 74-60, in the OAC Tournament Championship Game
  • Advanced to its 10th NCAA Div. III National Tournament
  • Hosted NCAA Div. III National Tournament games for the sixth time
  • Defeated D'Youville (N.Y.) University, 83-53, in the first round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament
  • Advanced to second round of the NCAA Div. III National Tournament

2008-09

  • Advanced to the NCAA Division III National Tournament for the 11th time
  • Defeated Pitt-Greensburg (Pa.) University, 52-44, in Grand Rapids, Michigan (at Calvin College) in the first round of the NCAA Div. III National Tournament
  • Advanced to second round of the NCAA Div. III National Tournament

2013-14

  • Tied for the OAC Regular Season title -- its eighth in school history
  • Advanced to the NCAA Division III National Tournamnet for the 12th time
  • Beat Lebanon Valley (Pa.), 82-66, in the first round of the NCAA Div. III National Tournament in York, Pennsylvania
  • Defeated host York (Pa.) University, 67-52, to win NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional
  • Advanced to its fifth "Sweet 16" in school history
  • Advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament third round/ "Sweet 16" for the fifth time in school history

2014-15

  • Won OAC Tournament title for the sixth time in school history
  • Defeated Capital University, 50-46, in Berea to win the OAC Tournament title
  • Advanced to the Division III National Tournament for the 13th time

2018-19

  • Advanced to the NCAA Division III National Tournament for the 14th time
  • Beat Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology, 73-71, in the first round of the NCAA Div. III National Tournament
  • Advanced to the second round of the NCAA Div. III National Tournament

2019-2020

  • Won its ninth OAC Regular Season title in school history
  • Tied the school-record for OAC victories in a single season (17)
  • Won its seventh OAC Tournament Championship
  • Defeated John Carroll University, 80-63, in the OAC Championship Game in Berea
  • Received its 15th NCAA Division III Tournament berth in school history
