Camarati Garners Second Career NFCA Softball All-Central Region Honor

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Baldwin Wallace University All-Ohio Athletic Conference right handed pitcher Nikki Camarati (Brunswick/Holy Name) has been selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Central Region first-team.

The awards salute student-athletes from the Association's eight NCAA regions with first, second and third-team honors. NFCA member coaches voted on the teams in their respective regions.

Camarati, who garners her second accolade after being named to the second-team in 2019, is one of 308 student-athletes selected from 104 teams.  She now advances to the national ballot, which will be announced on May 24.

This season, Camarati led the OAC with a career-best and school single season-record 228 strikeouts, which was 125 more the second place pitcher.  She was tied for second in the conference and tied for seventh in school history with 14 wins in a season.  Camarati also was third in the league with a 2.25 earned run average.  She also had a career-high three saves and a career-best tying 17 complete games in 143 innings pitched.  Camarati was selected as the OAC Pitcher of the Week on three occasions.

For her career, Camarati has appeared in 62 games with 49 starts and owns a record of 35-14.  She is second all-time in strikeouts with 450 and enters her senior campaign needing 83 strikeouts to move into first place. Camarati has an earned run average of 1.77 in 316 innings pitched with five saves. She is a seven time OAC Pitcher of the Week., a first-team All-OAC selection and the OAC Pitcher of the Year in 2019.

BW finished the 2021 season with an overall record of 22-16  and a 19-15 mark in the OAC.  The Yellow Jackets advanced to the OAC Tournament semifinals.
