Softball Drops OAC Doubleheader to Capital

BEXLEY, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team dropped an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader with Capital University at Clowson Field.

Capital (12-20, 12-20 OAC) won the first game by a final score of 9-2.  The Crusaders completed the sweep with a 3-2 victory in game two.

In game one, BW (21-13, 19-13 OAC) scored two runs on 11 hits as they plated one run in the first and one in the sixth.  The Crusaders scored nine runs on 14 hits as they pushed

The Yellow Jackets were led at the plate by junior Academic All-OAC left fielder Amanda Crisler (Lorain/Amherst) as she went 2-for-3 with a double and run batted-in (RBI).  Sophomore designated player Raegan Thompson (Mentor) was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC second baseman Alex Kozich (Avon) went 2-for-4 with a double and run scored.

In the circle, junior All-OAC right hander Nikki Camarati (Brunswick/Holy Name) took the loss as she allowed six runs on nine hits with five strikeouts and two walks in four innings.  Sophomore righty Sydni Uhlenberg (Allen Park, Mich.) pitched the final two innings and allowed three runs on five hits with two strikeouts and three walks. 

In game two, BW scored two runs on two hits as they plated both its runs in the third inning.

Capital scored three runs on five hits as it pushed one run across the plate in the first and two in the fifth.

BW got a base knock each from Kozich and Senior Academic All-OAC third baseman Kami MiracleMiracle had the only extra base hit for the Yellow Jackets as she had a double.

In the circle, junior righty Hannah Welling (Ravenna) suffered the loss as she allowed three runs on five hits with one strikeout.

BW is back in action on Saturday, May 8 when it hosts its final regular season home OAC doubleheader against the University of Mount Union on the BW Softball Field at the Roehm Athletic Complex at 1 p.m.
