Softball Earns Split on Day 3 of Sunkissed March Game

KISSIMMEE, Fla. The Baldwin Wallace University softball team earned a split on day three of the Diamond 9 Sunkissed March at Osceola County Softball Complex.

BW dropped its opening game by a final score of 7-2 to Emerson (Mass.) College   The Yellow Jackets gained the split as it won the nightcap by a final score of 3-1 over Widener (Pa.) College.

In game one, BW scored two runs on 10 hits as it plated a run in the sixth and seventh innings.  Emerson scored seven runs on nine hits as it pushed three runs across the plate in the fifth and four runs in the sixth.

BW was led by junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC right fielder Alexis Boledovic (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) as she went 3-for-4 with one run batted-in.  Freshman designated player Mackenzie Milligan (Cleveland/St. Joseph Academy) was 2-for-2 with two doubles and a RBI.  Freshman pitcher Abby Cosart (Lima/Bath) went 2-for-3.   Three other Yellow Jackets tallied a base knock.

In the circle, Cosart took the loss as she allowed seven runs (three earned) on nine hits with two strikeouts and three walks.  

In game two, BW scored three runs on four hits as it scored one run in the third and two in the fourth.  Widener scored one run on five hits as it plated its lone run in the third inning.

The Yellow Jackets got a base hit from Boledovic, Milligan, sophomore second baseman Alex Kozich (Avon) and junior catcher Sami Minor (North Royalton).  Kozich provided the team's only RBI.

In the circle, senior righty Sam Mott (Frewsburg, N.Y./Central) picked up her second win of the season as she allowed one run on five hits with seven strikeouts and three walks. 

BW continues the Diamond 9 March Sunkissed Games with games against Bridgewater (Va.) University and Rhodes (Tenn.) University at 1:30 and 3:45 p.m.
