MARIETTA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team lost a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference games to Marietta College on Marietta Field. 

Marietta (11-15, 3-5 OAC) came back from three runs down to win the first game by a final score of 6-3 and won the second game by a final score of 2-1.

In game one, BW (8-12, 2-6 OAC) scored three runs on five hits as it plated all three runs in the first inning highlighted by the first career homerun for sophomore All-OAC shortstop Erica English (North Olmsted) to lead off the game.   English's blast was the first homer of the season for the Yellow Jackets.  The Pioneers tallied six runs on nine hits as they scored one run in both the second and third innings and two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings,

BW had five players each record a base hit led by English with her homerun and a run batted-in. 

In the circle, junior Sam Mott (Frewsburg, N.Y./Central) took the loss as she allowed four runs (two earned) with seven strikeouts and four walks in 4.2 innings pitched.  Senior Academic All-OAC pitcher Erica Morgan (Brook Park/Midpark) pitched the final 1.1 innings allowed two runs on two hits with two strikeouts.

In game two, the Yellow Jackets scored one run on five hits as they plated their lone run in the seventh inning.  Marietta scored two runs on five hits as it scored one run in both the fourth and sixth inning. 

BW was led by English as she went 2-for-4 with one RBI.   Three other Yellow Jackets tallied a base knock. 

In the circle, Morgan took the loss as she allowed one run on four hits with one strikeout and one walk in four innings pitched.  Freshman Nikki Turner (Hudson) pitched the final two innings and allowed one run on one hit with one strikeout and two walks.

BW is back in action on Monday, April 10 when it travels to Adrian, Michigan for a non-conference doubleheader against Adrian College on the Adrian College Softball Field at 3:30 p.m.   The next home games are on Tuesday, April 11 when the team hosts an OAC doubleheader against Heidelberg University on the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field at 3 p.m.
