NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University softball team swept a rescheduled Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader versus Marietta College at Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 29 but was moved until today due to inclement weather.

BW (7-10, 3-1 OAC) won the first game by a final score of 2-1 as freshman centerfielder Sydney Kimball (Brecksville/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) blasted her first game-winning and career homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning.    The Yellow Jackets won the second game by a final score of 8-3 as they scored six runs in the second and two in the fifth.   Marietta (9-9, 2-2 OAC) has now lost three straight games.

In game one, BW scored two runs on six hits and was led by junior first baseman Mackenzie Brua (Avon) as she went 2-for-3 with two singles.  Four other Yellow Jackets had a base knock, including Kimball's game-winner.

On the mound, senior All-OAC pitcher Tabitha Murray (Mogadore/Field) picked up her second win of the season as she pitched seven innings and allowed one run on four hits with five strikeouts and three walks.
In game two, BW scored eight runs on 10 hits and was led by senior All-OAC shortstop Lauren Feciuch (Kent/Field) as she went 3-for-4 with a double and run batted in.   Murray was 2-for-4 with two RBI and freshman third baseman DJ Rogers (Warren/Champion) went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

On the mound, freshman Samantha Dostall (Oberlin/Firelands) picked up her second win of the season as she pitched four innings and allowed three runs on four hits with five strikeouts.   Freshman Darcy Daniel (Sandusky/Perkins) pitched one inning and did not allow a run on three hits with two walks.  Freshman Erica Morgan (Brook Park/Midpark) pitched the final two innings and did not allow a run on two hits with two strikeouts.

BW is back in action this Friday, April 4 when it hosts a non-conference doubleheader on Friday, April 4 on the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field at 3:30 p.m.  The Yellow Jackets then return to OAC play on Saturday, April 5 when they travel to Westerville to take on Otterbein University at 1 p.m.
